Procurement and Payment Services (PPS) office has started to see suppliers reach out with regards to the recently imposed tariffs. It is our intention to work closely with you and any supplier seeking to increase their prices so that we can understand the details of the commodity being impacted before we allow a price increase.
Here is how you can expect PPS will help:
Suppliers: we will continue to explore alternative suppliers and sourcing options to mitigate potential disruptions caused by tariffs, focusing on regions with favorable trade agreements or lower tariff rates.
Cost Impact Assessment: we are analyzing the cost implications of these tariffs on current and future procurements.
Negotiation Support: we will leverage our expertise to negotiate favorable pricing and terms with suppliers, including exploring options to minimize or offset tariff impacts.
Next Steps:
Please contact Procurement@austin.utexas.edu if you have any questions or concerns regarding tariffs or their potential impact on your research or operations.
We encourage you to share your specific needs and challenges with us so we can tailor our support accordingly.
PPS will continue to provide more information as it becomes available.
